Dodge Repair: 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 magnum: wiper arm, dodge ram 1500, spring tension

Question
windshield arm removal on 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4. need to know how to remove it

Answer
Hi Lamar,
The '04 manual (the earliest that I have) shows that you lift the arm up off the glass to the fully upright position which relieves some of the spring tension in the pivot. Then if you feel the underside of the pivot you will notice on the under side of the tip of the pivot a latch which you catch under your finger nail and pull radially outward which then allows you to pull the pivot tip off the wiper connector knob. As you stand over the pivot with the arm pointing away from you the latch is on right side of the pivot underside. It is spring-loaded so you will notice that when pull on it with tip of your finger.
Reverse the process to install. Note that the wiper arms are different in length so be sure to get the correct one if you are replacing it. Pivot and the nob are interkeyed so notice that when you put it back on. After again flexing the pivot to the upright position push the pivot straight down on the knob. The latch will self-lock when the connection is completed.
I can copy a couple of pages that show this if you aren't successful. But I need to know your email address to send you that. To tell me it, you have to ask a 'private' question and in the text of the question you must tell me the address. I don't otherwise see it.
Please "rate" my answer (see below).
Thanks,
Roland
