Dodge Repair: Sound when turning:03 Stratus SXT sedan, alignment condition, bad wheel bearing

Question
What would cause the grinding of the inner rim. While making a right turn. Thx.

Answer
Hi Bob,
A 'grinding' sound when turning, could either be a very bad wheel bearing, but more likely it is a worn out constant-velocity joint which is located on the outer end of the drive shaft on the right side. I would usually decribe the latter as a loud clicking sound, the click rate being proportional to the speed at the time of the turn so at higher speed it might sound like grinding. A wheel bearing, although provoked by a turning action also tends to hum when you are going straight ahead, whereas the cv-joint usually is unremarkable until you do the turning.
I don't know what you mean by 'grinding of the inner rim'? What rim?, and do you actually see evidence of grinding occuring when you examine it? That might be due to too much free play in the wheel bearing or to some other out of alignment condition that causes the 'rim' to contact some other part nearby. Try turning the wheels full right, then with the car at rest look from underneath to see if the 'rim' is contacting some other chassis part. Is something bent?
That is the best I can offer based upon what you asked.
Please 'rate' my answer (see below).
Thanks,
