Dodge Repair: 1996 dodge intrepid cooling fan problem, coolant temperature sensor, dodge intrepid

Question
I purchased this car new in 1996 and replaced the dual cooling fans 2 years ago. I am overheating and have replaced the thermostat, coolant temperature sensor and lo fan relay. I worked in automotive retail for over 20 years. The car ac works great, even when it overheats. I noticed when I turn on the ac the fan on the passengers side comes on in about 20 seconds and then goes off AFTER the drivers side fan kicks on high. The drivers side fan always runs. I am certain this is what is causing my overheating but do not know where to turn next. I have not direct wired the fan because it ran when the ac is initialized. The car was sitting for 4 months and wasn't driven. What else could it be? The ac works great. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

Answer
The cooling fan operation that you described is normal for that year vehicle. So I would not suspect that the cooling fans are the root cause for you concern. I would instead look at a possible restriction in the radiator or water pump flow issue as the source of the problem.
