Dodge Repair: Dodge Journey Disc Brakes, disc brake pads, 2009 dodge journey

Question
I'm replacing the disc brake pads on my 2009 Dodge Journey. The front pads were no problem. On the rear caliper, I'm unable to push the piston back. Is that because of the e-brake assy? Do I need to release something? Thanks. Don.

Answer
Since the parking brake is also part of the caliper, you will need a special tool to rotate and compress the piston back into the caliper. There is no workaround to accomplish this procedure. You may be able to rent one from a tool rental shop or a local auto parts store.
