Dodge Repair: 98 Dodge Dakota Sport wont start, dodge dakota sport, dodge dakota

Question
My 98 Dodge Dakota Sport V6 overheated all of a sudden and extremely fast. I pulled over to check the fluid and let the engine cool down and coolant was pouring out of the overflow reservoir. Once the engine cooled and I added more 50/50 coolant, it wouldn't start. When I turn the key the dash powers up but the engine won't turn over, I just hear a click. I don't know if it could be a starter/ignition/transmission problem or cooling system problem.

Thank you

Answer
That the truck won't start after an overheating issue is a cause for concern. There had to be a reason that it overheated in the first place. One possibility would be that the water pump has failed and is seized. Try removing the fan belt and then cranking it over. If it starts then you know that you need to replace the water pump or another component that is turned by the belt. However, if it still fails to crank over there is a possibility that the engine has seized due to the over heating.
