Chrysler Repair: Electronic odometer failure, chrysler tech, gauge cluster

Question
Hi Roland.
My vehicle is a restored "87" New Yorker 4 door with a 2.2 liter Turbo engine.
My odometer on the electronic gauge cluster suddenly failed.  No numbers show, just 5 dashes. The gauge cluster display unit is a OEM replacement unit installed a few years ago and the mileage was programmed in by a Chrysler Tech when he installed it.
The car was parked for 3 weeks during a bad cold snap so I was wondering if the subzero weather caused something to fail.  Is it just a matter of reprogramming the mileage in again? Or has an electronic sensor or something failed that logs the miles on?  Thanks Roland...you've been helpful to me in the past on a couple of anomolies.  Cheers!

Answer
Hi Ralph,
Check fuses 7 and 13. Then if neither is blown, try simultaneously pressing the trip and trip reset buttons, turn the ignition to run, then release the buttons and see if EIC appears in the odometer window. If so, step thruough some tests by pushing the us/met button and observing.  If 1,2,3, is displayed in speedo and 'fail' in odo the cluster is bad. If 4 is displayed in speedo and 'fail' in odo the odo memory chip is bad. If you get a 5 keep pressing button until you get  to "8" in the speedo reading, then your are done and the cluster is good. There is a replaceable odometer memory chip if that turns out to be bad.
