QUESTION: I've got a problem not with the motor, but with the cabling that is used to move the window up and down. Something is jammed or broken, but I can't see enough to tell what is going on, and don't want to start ripping it all out without seeing how it goes together. What happens is that the motor does not move the window at all, nor will it hold the window up. Instead the cable just gets slack and taunt.

QUESTION: But the motor works just fine, both directions. It moves the cables as it should. It's just that the cables aren't moving through everything properly. I need a diagram that shows how the cables are supposed to work so I can understand that before I rip things out.

just replace the regulator itself then   there is no need to understand how it works  it has come apart  most of them do  a dealer sells the part as a unit  reg and motor  u might be able to find just the reg some where and swap over the motor.  there are no drawings on how some thing like that works
