Dodge Repair: 1997 dodge Stratus, uv dye, dodge stratus

Kevin, I took my car in last yr. the air couldn't work after 3 times of adding coolant and o-rings, it still would only work a short time and then stop. i am now beint told it needs an evaporator and a dryer, to the tune of $850. How do they know it's not the compressor?They said they put the Uv dye in, but if they did, why did they try 3 times to put in coolant and then 3rd time change the o rings? I'm confused? Help???

unless they know what to look for as far as it leaking in the dash  U cant not see inside the evap so U would smell it or use a sniffer up in thereto smell it. why o rings were replaced I cant tell u  they have been guessing most of the time I would say. Why not a compressor  because if u have a leak the dye would show up near the compressor. If u had a full charge in the system  then yes a compressor could be a suspect then.
