Dodge Repair: 97 1500 ram rear pinion, drive shaft, rear pinion seal

Question
I wanted to ask how hard or easy it would be to replace the rear pinion seal. Is there any special tools needed? me and my friend of mine work on our own trucks but havent done a pinion seal. We heard that you have to undo a bolt/nut that holds the drive shaft to the back end and then drop that down and then peel out old seal and then lub up the new seal and then put the drive shaft back up and replace the nut/bolt

Answer
u will need to yes pull the shaft out  there are seal puller that will get it out with out damage to the housing. Here is the art u may not be able to do. U will need a new crush sleeve and nut. U will then need to crush the new sleeve to just the right toque  to tight and u burn up the bearings  to loose and u do the same. I live in the Atlanta area I would be glad to look at it for u.
