Land Rover Repair: location, identification of serial link connector, service reminder, range rover county lwb

Question
greetings mr. robison

i have a 1995 range rover county, lwb with the 4.2 engine. i have an engine code that i would like to clear, and have had no luck doing it.

everthing i have read, and messages that i have seen on several message boards say to clear the code, to do the following:

turn ignition on, dissconnect serial link (located in passengers foot well) connector for 5 seconds, reconnect, turn off ingnition, wait for relay to drop, turn ignition on.

i have done this numerous times, and the code never leaves the display.

could you please tell me what the serial link looks like, color, and location?

also, i belive i read in one of your postings, that you said a certain 4.0 engine is a good replacement for the 4.2. what all is replaced? do you still use the same ecu, and most bolt ons?

mant thanks, sester

Answer
Shut the key off, wait 2 minutes, unhook the battery, set 1 minute, reconnect and the code should be gone.

If it's still there you have a problem that sets a code right away.

You are not confusing the timed service reminder light with the check engine light, are you?  That one resets in a different way.
