Dodge Repair: removal of oil pan, silicone rubber gaskets, negative battery cable

hello, my husband has been trying to remove the oil pan on a 1996 dodge intrepid and he has been having a hard time doing so. He has bought a bunch of tools but there is a bar blocking the removal please help. Also when his car is in idle or a stop the air conditoner cuts off but when he is moving it goes back to cool. I notice the other day some white smoke coming from the vents please help with this because I am not afraid to drive with him. whe the car goes into idle the car temperature goes to red and looks to be over heating but no smoke.

OIL PAN
The windage tray and oil pan gaskets are integral. The silicone rubber gaskets are bonded to both sides of the windage tray. This assembly is reusable provided it is not damaged upon removal.

CAUTION: Sealant must be carefully removed if gasket is to be used again.

REMOVAL
Disconnect negative battery cable, remove engine oil dipstick.
Raise vehicle. Drain engine oil.
Disconnect the sway bar and move to rear of vehicle to gain access to oil pan.
Remove transmission support brackets and inspection cover.
Remove oil pan bolts and remove oil pan.
Remove oil pick-up tube from oil pump body Oil Pump Pick-up Tube Service
Remove the windage tray/oil pan gasket Windage Tray/Oil Pan Gasket
NOTE: The windage tray and oil pan gaskets are integral Windage Tray/Oil Pan Gasket The silicone rubber gaskets are bonded to both sides of the windage tray. This assembly is reusable provided it is not damaged upon removal.

INSTALLATION
Apply a 1/8 inch bead of Mopar Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant or equivalent, at the parting line of the oil pump body and the rear seal retainer Oil Pan Sealing
Install the windage tray/oil pan gasket Windage Tray/Oil Pan Gasket
Install oil pick-up tube into oil pump body and tighten screw to 28 N·m (20 ft. lbs.)
Install pan and tighten fasteners to 12 N·m (105 in. lb.)
Install transmission support brackets and inspection cover.
Connect the sway bar.
Lower vehicle and install oil dipstick.
Connect negative battery cable.
Fill crankcase with oil to proper level.
