Dodge Repair: engin computer reprogramming, fuel cap, fuel pump

Question
My 89 dodge pick up has been sitting for quite some time the battery has completely run down.
It is a fuel injected 318 v-8 engin.
After I charged the battery the engin doesn't start. I do have spark to the plugs but not sure of fuel to injecters.
I have heard that the engin computer may have lost in memory dew to the battery being discharged. If that is my problem, can I reprogram it some how, or do I have to buy a new one.

Answer
Hi,
On an 89 dodge the computer will not loose it's programing.  Try opening the fuel cap and stand next to the truck and listen for thr fuel pump to come on while having someone turn on the ingnition switch.  It has an electric in tank pump.  If you leave a vehicle sitting for a long time sometimes the fuel pump stops working.  Gasoline has a substance in it that lubricates the diaphram stem.  If left sitting for a while it can harden and stop the fuel pump from working.
