Dodge Repair: Dodge Stratus: Engine dies while driving., catalic converter, dodge stratus

Question
I have a 98 Dodge Stratus ES v6, 128k miles, my car was towed 4 days ago due to parking illegally, when I picked it up & started it, immediately the check engine light came on, this was the first time I've seen it ever, I made it about 200 yards and then the engine quietly died and wheel stiffened up, friend came said I had no oil and put in 3 quarts, my last oil change was 2000 miles ago, after the first time it did start and stayed alive, was able to drive the 15 miles home, have driven short distances since then never more than a mile at a time and was fine, then today I got about 2 miles and it died while driving, made it to parking lot, started again died 15 secs later, started again died again 30 secs later then it started and stayed alive was able to make it home, have read a lot of similar prob. online, where should I start? Also wondering if towing could have something to do with it, by the way weirdly when I got in my car the parking brake was down though I left it up is that normal when being towed? Thanks so much.

Answer
Hi,
It's normal to relaese the parking brake when towing a car.  Go to Auto Zone and get a repair manual.  Go to the trouble shooting chapter and check everything in it.  Also check the catalic converter.  See if it gets hotter than the rear portion of the exhost system.
