Dodge Repair: speed odometer and fuel gauge and dash lights, gas gauge, dodge neon

Wow it's a wonder you could read it anyway.
It is a 1996 dodge neon, The gas gauge,and the speed odometer only works periodically,They seem to work when the tank has been filled,and then quit working. The speedo comes back on now and then for short periods. The gas gauge either reads full or empty.

What year and what kind of car?  Wright back and give me all the history that you can remember.  I'm sorry that I am having to ask to wright back.  However, there are many makes, models, years, and types of cars.

OK, first thing is you are going to have to have some knowledge about auto electric systems.  Second you more than likley have a short in the gauges.  You will have to back track to the problem.  Third you will need a voltage meter.  Check the voltage at the fuel pump reostat.  you will have to remove the fuel pump port under the back seat.to get to it.  remove it and work the lever up and down if the fuel pump goes to a short then this is your problem.  Check each guage accordingly until you find your problem.
