-------------------------

Followup To:yes i did run it hot but i forgot to add that after changeing the thermostat the truck started right up with out any problem then i discovered the leak, after changeing the hose(not the whole pump) and gasket it would not start just a knocking with the starter but with the new starter i dont get the knocking, its allmost like im trying to start it on a dead battery but the battery is good ihope this gives you a better idea of what could be wrong...

Question -
i had to change the theromaostat, water pump hose and gasket, and after doing so my truck wouldnt start.when i turned the ignition over the starter would make a loud knocking noise so i got new starter, starter relay, and nuetral safety switch, after all that still nothing.when i try to turn over the engine the it jumps very little, ive looked at all my connections everything looks  to be ok im at a total lose here at what the problem could be,your help would be greatly appreciated.one more thing can you tell me what the auto shutdown relay is and what it does?

Answer -
First, did you run the truck hot before replacing the water pump?  If you did you may have damaged one or more of the connecting rod bearings.  Wright me back and let me know.
Secondly, the Shutdown relay is to shut down thew electrical parts of the ignition.  This is to keep you from doing some drastic camage to your engine.   when something is wrong.  Wright me back about the running hot.

Answer
If you ran it hot you probably caused inturnal engine problems.  Put a socket on the nut holding the harmonic balancer on.  Try to turn the engine over by hand.  If it turns easy you probably haven't did any inturnal damage.  If it turns hard, as I expect it will You have done inturnal damage.  The only recourse in that instance is to either rebuild your engine or get one from a junk yard.  If it's an old beater get it from the junck yard.  If it's a nice truck you can purchase a rebuilt one from a discount parts house for less than $1200.00.  Also, buy the extended warrenty.  Wright me back especially if it turns easy, I am interested in your project.
