Dodge Repair: 94 Intrepid trans interm. no shift, solenoid pack, speed sensors

1994 dodge intrepid 3.3 vin T automatic tranny
i went to the store last night and came out started my car and drove off, only thing it would not shift out of 1st gear. this morning got up and went for a drive down the road and presto it shifts. what would cause this to happen.  thank you

Unfortunately, there's no way to know for sure what it's going to be without hooking the vehicle up to a scan tool.  Many of the trans, including yours, from this time period and beyond were electronically controlled.  Also, they have speed sensors that can go out from time to time.  Betweeen the trans controller, the speed sensors, the solenoid pack, and internal transmission problems there's no way to rule things out without either spending some money on speed sensors or spending more money on diagnostics and repairs.

Do you remember if the speedometer worked?
