Dodge Repair: 1990 Plymouth Acclaim 3.0 v-6 no spark, crankshaft position sensor, 1990 plymouth acclaim

Question
there is no spark 1990 Plymouth Acclaim 3.0 V-6. I checked the two wires coming to the coil and neither lite up the test light when the engine was cranking over. The coil states "use with transistor ignition" on the side of it. Could there be a sensor in the ignition or under the distributor cap that needs replacing in order to get power to be sent to the coil.

Answer
The coil sends voltage to your distributor which then distributes the voltage out to each cylinder.

There is a "pick-up" in the distributor that determines camshaft orientation.  There's also a crankshaft position sensor that dictates ignition firing.

Finally, there's an ASD relay that provides power to numerous components including your coil pack and your injectors.

You'll need to check some of my previous responses to others in order to understand how these components could be affecting your no start condition.  There will also be detailed information as to how to CHECK some of these components.
