Dodge Repair: air conditioner, dodge dakota sport, air conditioner compressor

The air conditioner compressor on 98 dodge dakota sport, 2.5 engine , will work and cool using jumper wire. It wouldn't kick in . Have replaced computer because was told this was the problem.  Still doesn't work. HELP! What can I try?

It could be any number of things.  Typically an a/c system will not come on because it's not being told to.  This happens in the event that pressure is too low, pressure is falsely being reported as being too high or the computer is not interpretting signals right.

Have you had the a/c system checked as far as refrigerant levels?  A low charge is the number one reason why a/c compressors won't turn on.
