Dodge Repair: 96 caravan wipers stopped, dodge grand caravan, grand caravan

I have a 1996 dodge grand caravan and the wipers have stopped working when they are turned on with the muti-function-switch. Instead at times they will come on after I leave the wiper switch on and leave it on. Then maybe they will briefly cycle then stop - then maybe cycle again.I checked the ground wire by the transmission dipstick. I replaced the multifunction switch. No change! The wipers will cycle when I push the washer control but otherwise they won't. What do I need to replace or check out next? HELP!

This can be a little troublesome to diagnose because the wipers are tied in to the body control module.  There is a service bulletin about wipers that do not "park" properly but it is lengthy and difficult to explain.  I would recomend taking it to the dealer or a repair shop that has a scan tool that can talk with your vehicle's BODY control module as well as the engine control module.
