Auto Racing: muffler, epoxy compound, exhaust pipes

Question
Hi, i have a ford 1993 areostar 3 litre OK,
right after the muffler there is a about an 18" flex pipe which is leaking exaust all over the place and badly rusted. Is there any compound or metal wrap or anything i can put on it to keep it alive for 6 months these parts here in Canada are very expensive and i hope you can help.
Thanks in advance

John

Answer
Hi John

I suggest that you replace the faulty part rather than a repair as repairs on exhaust pipes don't last that long - 6 months is too long – but if the repairs are a must then go with the epoxy compound. It is has good resistance for heat and moisture.
If you can see a crack or a hole that is to big for the epoxy to fill, try to weld a piece of metal on the defected area.
I hope this have been helpful.
