Question -
I was driving my truck and went down a muddy road.  After I killed the truck for a while, the truck would not start.  I noticed the O2 sensor was broke, would this keep the truck from starting?
Answer -
Gary,
I need to know if the engine would spin over when trying to start, but not start...or if the engine would not even crank over.
The computer does not rely on the o2 sensor to start the vehicle, in fact the computer ignores readings from the o2 sensor until the engine warms up.  But I'm wondering if you broke the o2 sensor, and damaged some wiring harnesses, or popped a fuse.

If the road was bad enough to damage the o2 sensor, maybe it caused more damage

The truck will spin over but will not start.  I have looked to see if any wires were damaged, but do not see any.  I have checked the fused, and got no where with that.  ANy suggestions?

Answer
First of all... I assume that you have fuel in the tank.
With you crouched down beside the fuel tank, have a helper
turn the ignition on. You should hear the pump run for
about 5 seconds.
If it does not run, then comfirm that there is power at
the pump harness.  If there is power, have the
pump replaced.
If you are sure that the pump is working, then check for spark. With the ignition off, pull off a plug wire
and lay the end close to some metal under the hood.
Have a helper crank the engine while you stand back and watch the plug wire for a spark.
Let me know what your results of these 2 tests are, and we will go from there.
