Hi, Sean .I bought a 1999 dodge avenger that has a few problems ,it is the v6 2.5 it was throwing a bunch of codes but most were cleared up when I found the fuel rail had been reinstalled with a nut as a spacer on the rail hold downs.I have replaced 1 o2 sensor tried a diffrent ( used ) computer tightened all vac hoses .The last code is ( p1297 ) manufacturer controlled fuel and air metering .I checked this with an Advance code reader but to make sure I took it to a local garage and they used their snap on tool one .They told me it was the map sensor ,I was told by the local dodge dealer that p1297 was the map sensor .I bought one from Auto zone ( not sure how good an idea this was ) .Car is still running poorly bucking and seeming like it is loading up . There has been another code saying fuel mixture too rich on both banks sorry forgot to write down code but it only seems to show up if I try to drive in town but not as much if I take it for a run on highway,It will usually run good on highway then act up when I have to stop or slow right down ,I have listened but can't hear a vacuum leak ,put new hose clamp on brake vacumm line as this was loose and brakes were sometimes poor first thing on a drive .put in new spark plugs and wires at the start of all this as there seemed to be a miss but seems ok now ,I appreciate any help you can give me Sean ,Thanks again

Ron,
I Know you said you cant hear a vacuum leak, but I
would suspect an intake leak anyway.  It might be worth
the money to have the car smoked at a shop to verify it.
Then you can easily repair the intake gasket yourself.
Sean.
Today I took the intake off and put a new gasket on and checked all hoses and connections took it out for ride and it ran better than ever until I got home and stopped and backed into a parking space then it started to stumble and stall out and threw another code .I didn't get to check the code but before I replaced the gasket it read P1297 so I had it cleared . Not sure where to check next ,if you have any ideas please let me know thanks again .

Monitored: With engine rpm above 400 and less than 1500 and closed throttle.
Set when: Too small a difference is seen between barometric pressure at ignition on
and manifold vacuum (engine running for 2 seconds).
