Dodge Repair: Reseting ECM/Computer after TCM replacement., grand caravan sport, dodge grand caravan sport

Question
Hi,
Can you tell me if I need to reset the ECM/Computer after replacing the TCM in a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport?  If so, how is this done?  My tranny is in (LIMP MODE) at the present time.  I have replaced both speed sensors and I have done a tranny flush, filter, and fuid replacement.  Still in (LIMP MODE)I took took the van to the local dealer where they tested it and told me that the TCM is bad. Any help would be great.

Thank you,
John

Answer
If you recently replaced the TCM, you need a mechanic to hook up an external code scanner and clear any existing codes in the system. This should fix it- if it still gets limp mode, there is a mechanical problem. Most of the time this is due to the TCM detecting a slip from gears 2-3.
