Chrysler Repair: 2000 Chrysler TCC on 3-speed non-electronic trans, tcc solenoid, black and orange

Question
I was called about the location of the TCC solenoid for a 2000 Chrysler Caravan w/3speed (no O/D). The person had a reman trans installed and is now giving code P0743. Was told buy supplier to replace solenoid located on side of trans but can not locate it to change. Where is the solenoid located and can it be changed with ease?

Answer
Hi Ricky,
The TCC solenoid wiring connector is located on the side of the transmission that faces the front of the van, towards the front on that side, and the plug has three pins but only 2 wires:white/black and orange/black. It is one of the few wires on that transmission. The solenoid itself is positioned on the valve body so you would need to drop the pan and remove the valve body to change that out. I was unaware that the engine controller will pick-up such a fault with the transmission...there is no separate trans controller for this non-electronic transmission so the engine computer must have that control and the ability to note its non-response. You would not have to remove the trans to replace the solenoid. Hopefully the clutch itself is not the problem as that would require removal to replace.
