Dodge Repair: Trouble starting car, dodge omni, new spark

Question
Hi Pete,
I've asked you a few questions about my car in the past and you've always been very helpful.  I hope you can help me figure out my latest problem.  I have a 1989 Dodge Omni 4-door. In July I got an oil change, new spark plugs, tune up etc.  Yesterday, I went out to start the car, turned the key and it did absolutely nothing. Normally when I put the key in there is a buzzing noise until I fasten the seatbelt and it didn't even do that.  The lights wouldn't come on, horn wouldn't honk and there was absolutely no starting noise.  I unhooked the battery and brought it in and charged it overnight.  It was showing very low when I put it on the charger.  This morning I put the fully charged battery in the car, attached the cables.  I put the key in and got the seatbelt buzz but when I turned the key to start it- nothing.  I turned the key back to the off position and when I turned it again it didn't even make the seatbelt buzz noise.  I got out and looked at the battery and jiggled the cables and tried it a couple more times and absolutely nothing.  Once more, I got out and jiggled the cables to the battery a little, turned the key and it started.  I drove it a little bit and started it several times after that.  I took it to a garage and had the battery tested.  When the man put the tester on the battery with the Omni's cables attached to the posts it showed bad on his meter everytime he tested it.  When he took the Omni's cables off and tested the battery it showed good on the meter.  The cables and posts are clean and don't have any corrosion on them.  I don't know what to think about this situation.  I am worried because I have to pick up my father at the train station about 200 miles from here Saturday evening and if the car doesn't start I don't know what I will do.Can you help me figure out what is going on and maybe give me some tips to force it to start so I can pick up my dad.  Sorry that this is such a long drawn out question but I figured you might need to know most of this stuff in order to figure out the problem.  Any help or advice you can give me will really be appreciated.

Thanking you in advance,
Dianne
