Steering Column Repair: key wont turn enough to start the truck, lock cylinder, lock switch

I got an 89 GMC tilt and manual trans the key will go to the on positioin but won't turn enough to start I've wiggled the lock switch before and it would start but now it won't

GM ignition lock cylin Hi Jason:
It sounds like you need an ignition lock cylinder.  When they go bad, they often will not rotate fully anymore.  The replacement is fairly easy and inexpensive.  You can get a new ignition lock cylinder at any parts store and we have recently uploaded some videos on our website to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the parts you are talking about.
