Dodge Repair: TIMING AND TIMING BELT, timing gears, dodge 600


Question
I HAVE A 1985 DODGE 600 TURBO
MY TIMING BELT BROKE,I REPLAced it with a new one.THE CAR DID START ONCE I EDVANCED THE DISTRIBITY CAP AS FOR AS IT WOULD GO TO THE RIGHT .SO I TOOK THE BELT BACK OFF,AND REVERST IT ONE NOTCH BACKWORD.
WHAT DO I LOOK FOR ON THE GEARS TO LINE THE TIMING GEARS AND BELT UP RIGHT ON THIS MODEL OF CAR?

The camshaft keyway should be at 12 oclock position. Keyway in the center of the head.
there is a mark a small slash on the gear. the bottom Gears are the same way both lower gears have a dot or slash on them these need to line up with each other.

After you put the belt on you shoud turn the motor over and make sure everything lines up right.

Turn the crank two full revalotions. this will turn the cam gear one full turn.
All the marks should be lined up in the correct places.

The flat edge of the distribtor should be lined up with the valve cove , Not advanced or retarted or twisted.
