Dodge Repair: 1998 Dodge Neon wont start, dodge neon, switch problem

Question
The 1998 Neon was just serviced by the dealer for a loss of power at startup. All codes checked OK, dealer replaced spark plugs. (Way overdue w/47K miles). Car was used on 4-5 occasions after service with no problems. Today it will not start. Lights are bright even when attempting to start. No solenoid clicking, no noise whatsoever. I checked and all wires seem to be in place. Don't know whether to return it to the dealer to see if it was something that they could have caused, or just tow it to my mechanic.

Answer
Steve,

First you need to make sure you have 12 volts on the large battery cable at the starter, is so. then see if you have 12 volts on thew small wire when the key is turned.if so then you have a bad starter.

If no voltage on the small wire while turning the key you could have a relay, wire, switch problem
If no power on the large wire on the starter then you have a bad conection at the battery or in the cable.

sometimes you can have enough power to light the headlights but not enough amprage to turn the starter.
Headlights take about 20 amps . The starter takes upwards of 200 amps.

Good luck,
Hope this helps,

Steve
