Dodge Repair: front end problem, dodge avenger, wheel bearings

Question
Hi, I have a Dodge Avenger 96 126,000 miles 4 cyl. My problem is i'm getting a noise from the bottom of my car,  its not so much a noise as it is a feeling I get in the pedal and floor board.  I'm thinking it maybe the front wheel bearing hub assembly. On that car its a sealed part so I can't service just the wheel bearings, but before I even take it apart and replace, is there a way I can double check to see if thats the problem? or perhaps its another steering suspension problem. That car did have a recall a couple of years ago for the ball joints which have been replaced, and I did notice that when I turn to the right the "noise" goes way. Any suggestions as to what my problem maybe ? Thanks for all and any advice. Carl

Answer
Carl,

The way to check a wheel bearing is to drive the car on a straight road and sort of sway back a forth a little. if the sound gets worse one way and goes away or gets better the other way then its a wheel bearing.

the bearings are pressed in and you will need an alinghment after you replace them.

Also you may want to do both at the same time .
