Dodge Repair: 88 dakota stalling and wont start hot, temp sensor, something simple

Question
hello, i have an 88 dakota v6 2wd auto w/224,000 miles. i work for the electric co. here in PA. reading meters (we drive our own vehicles) so its running for about 8-9 hours per day (stop and go )it starts fine in the morn. but throughout the day it will sputter and stall. and wont start for about 15 min.it runs fine for an hr. or two, after which it seems to "load up" and stall again.when it does start again it smokes and smells funny, it ONLY smokes after start up, ive replaced.... 02 sensor, ign.coil, p up coil, dist. shaft, rotor, cap, plugs, wires, coolant temp sensor, fuel filter, and ive cleaned all connections to the computer, along w/ 3 bottles of injector/carb cleaner, it seems to be worse when its a hot ,or wet day. could it be the computer? it runs great when running, and i dont want to sell it and find out later it was something simple... there are NO codes coming from the computer.. except "55" end of test. any ideas? all suggestions would be greatly appreciated..... thanks
