Ford Repair: cylinders 1, 2, and 3 missing

Question
Have a 2003 ford explorer sport trac with 4.0 engine. Am getting a alert (check engine) stating that cylinders 1, 2, and 3 are missing. Ford dealership has had for over two weeks now not finding problem. They told me they changed spark plugs and wires but did not fix the problem. Any thoughts you may have would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi Ronald,
Did the dealership contact you before doing the work? If you took it in about the problem you are describing, Then if they replace parts without your consent they YOU are not responsible for payment. They charged you a Diagnostic charge and cant figure it out then You are not responsible for that either. Since it is not cylinders next to each other, I would suspect one of three things. One either your injectors are bad or need cleaned, two your intake gasket is blown, or three your cylinders are low on compression. Let me know more please. Thank you
Jeff
