Ford Repair: 07 Edge: Reverse lights, service bulletins, wiring connector

Question
QUESTION: A few weeks ago I asked you about my reverse lights not working on my 07' Edge. You replied and said to give you a day or so to check it out and to send a message to your personal email if I didn't here from you within a day or so. I didn't here back so I sent the message as you requested and haven't heard anything back at all. Do you have any information?

ANSWER: I don't, i've done alot of checking around for service bulletins, messages from ford and other techs. this is definatley a first. assuming you've checked the bulbs and fuses, the only thing that turns on the reverse lights is what called the transmission range sensor. it is black in color with a lever and 6 6 pin wiring connector going to it. not difficult to replace. held on by one nut.

QUESTION: Would there likely be other symptoms besides just the reverse lights not working if the transmission range sensor was bad?

ANSWER: you could be having errstic shift points. did some research. i need you to check both bulbs, if one gos out, they both go out. if one is replaced with the improper wattage settings, you will still experience them both out so, for the few dollars. gonna recommend you replace both bulbs. and get back to me

QUESTION: I am not experiencing any problems with the vehicle shifting. I have already replaced both of the bulbs. That was one of the first things I did when I realized the problem.

Answer
have someone stand behind the vehicle when you put it in reverse, move the shifter from park to reverse slowly and from drive to reverse slowly. the idea is to see if the sensor is out of adjustment. if it is, the lights should flicker somewhere between the slow shifting back and forth between gears
