Ford Repair: 99 Ford Escort AC no working., bosch relay, ccrm

Question
QUESTION: Hi,
My 99 Escort AC is not working. I have at least 12 volts at the high and low pressure switches and and have jumped them but AC is still not working. Compressor engages and AC works if you jump it directly to the battery. If you replace the CCRM, do you have to disconnect the battery cable to reset the computer for the new one to work? I've also removed the current CCRM and have taken off the cover and exposed the relays inside. Can a replacement Bosch relay be purchased anywhere for the CCRM?  Any help is appreciated.

ANSWER: replacing the ccrm does not require any reprogramming. not recommended to try to replace anything in the ccrm. best to get one used. at the same time, be sure the system is full first

QUESTION: Full? So the battery doesn't need to be disconnected to reset the PCM? Also if I put a new CCRM on and the AC still does not engage and blow cold, what does this mean? I've jumped both the low pressure switch and high pressure cut-off switch.

Thanks!

Answer
what i mean by full is/ be sure the a/c system is full of freon. no, you don't have to disconnect the battery and reset although you should disconnect it anyways to replace the ccrm. when you jump the low side switch, it closes a relay in the ccrm the activates the compressor. if you replace it, assuming the system is full. then you have an open wire between either the low side switch to the ccrm or from the ccrm to the compressor. not likely though
