Ford Repair: car motor, ford focus, car motor

Question
Greetings!
1.Is it true that driving 50-60 kilometers after the no gas signal on the dashboard goes on is damaging for the motor
2. We have a Ford Focus 2004 with a brand new engine. Going up the mountainous roads, we can barely get to 80/90 kms .  Is this common for the Ford Focus?
Thank you for your time!  Keep up the good work

Answer
Hello Yehuda, running low on fuel is more damaging to the fuel pump because it will work harder and it uses fuel to help cool the electric motor that is part of the pump. The other part to your question is it is not common on a focus. I would have the vehicle rechecked to see if timing is correct and if there may be another issue. Thanks for your question, hope this helps.
