Ford Repair: stopping runing, razor blade, expidition

Question
2004 expidition, would quit running while driving . would start back after stoped.mech said no codes.finally stopped and would not restart.mech said fuel pump line was busted in tank, burned up fuel pump and relay, new fuel pump, and a used relay(expensive). ran good for about 5 months then started again, riding along and engine cuts off. most of time starts back quick, could it be relay or do you know something else to check, thanks in advance.it is 5.4 triton ,does it need a special battery?

Answer
two things for you to check, looking at the rear wheel on the driver's side ( with a flash light ), you will see a grey/silver looking type sensor about 2" by 5" with a grey connector with 5-6 wires going to it - this is the fuel pump driver module.  remove it. you'll need to lower the spare tie to do this and look for heavy corrosion on the bottom of the sensor. this was a very common concern. also- looking at the driver's door under the vehicle, you will see a large wiring harness that runs along the frame rail, using a razor blade, open this harness and look for melted wires. this was also a common concern for this vehicle. i know this seems complicated but, print this and read while you perform.. it takes less time than it seems. get back to me.. happy new year !  -b-
