Ford Repair: 2007 Ford F150, motorcraft spark plugs, air gap

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2007 F150 with a 4.6L V8 that lacks power and the engine is flooding under acceleration.  I have replaced the right side coils, spark plugs, and fuel filter.  Now the truck barely gets up to 30mph and feels like it is going to die when I stop.

ANSWER: Is your check engine light on ??? and did you install motorcraft spark plugs ??? this engine is very sensitive to the type of plug. if you installed auto lites or any other. replace them with motorcraft plugs. the problem with the after market plugs is the air gap is too wide and is not adjustable. please get back to me when you can about the type of plug installed so i can help you further. thanks   -b-

QUESTION: Yes the check engine light is on and blinks when I acclerate.  I put in autolite plugs.  I gaped the plugs at .052 which is what is suggested in the Chilton Manual.

Answer
if you used auto lite plugs, replace them. the motorcraft craft plugs come pre-gapped with a specific heat and resistance range. last week i just did the same for a customer who had installed auto lites and the vehicle actually ran worse. if the light is blinkin when acceleratig it actually indicates an ignition miss which causing raw fuel to dump into the exhaust. it doesn't take long for this to contaminate the cat converters !
