Ford Repair: throttle body, throttle plate, foot pressure


Question
QUESTION: the gas pedal sticks when its cold i heard this has to do with the throttle body  it takes longer and longer for it to warm up so i don't have use a lot of foot pressure to go  does it need to be replaced or can it be cleaned?

ANSWER: I need to know what kind of vehicle it is.. thank you

hello judy, yes and no to your question. the throttle plate can be cleaned with a tooth brush and some foaming carburetor cleaning but this can only be done one or two times as the cleaner removes the coating on the inside of the throttle body. after a couple times it will need to be replaced.
remove the hose going to the throttle body. flip open the plate inside. you'll see where the plate hits and stops. spray around this area and clean with a soft tooth brush. wipe out after with clean rag. takes all of 15 minutes. good luck happy holidays.  -b-
