Question
Problem with the Ford Taurus 1997 Taurus
Had starting problems and cleaned battery terminal wires, car started. Yesterday same problem, adjusting wires did not work. Had battery jumped, car started. I warmed up car for 5 minutes before driving. Car went about 1/4 mile then everything suddenly stopped cold. No dash lights, no "buzz" from battery - nothing electrical operated except very weak door locks. No action when key turned - electrically dead HELP

Answer
Tom,  Don't know how old is your battery.. Have it tested as it might be causing this.  If the battery is good, then check the alternator.... A quick and crude way to test is to use a volt meter to see what kind of voltage your getting from Battery before and after car starting. You should read around 13 to 14 volts.  Do the same for the alternator while car is running.  But, you still need to get it tested in your local part store.
