QUESTION: I have a 2004 ford freestar. The van makes a squealing noise that sounds like it is coming from the harmonic balancer but we are not 100% sure. We have change a lot of parts. The van also stalls out when it starts to squeal.

QUESTION: It is a 3.9 L. It also sqeals when the belt is off

Hello Amanda, It is possible the camshaft sensor and syncro. is causing the noise. The snycro is like the bottom half of a distributor the turns as the engine runs, the sensor mounts on top to pick up a reference. There is a bushing that goes bad in the scynro causes the noise. The 2 parts would need to be replaced to get rid of it. Hope this helps Thanks Tony
