Ford Repair: no idle/rough idle, vacuum leaks, cleaning maf sensor

Question
91 ford ranger 2wd. when i start the engine it will immediately die. I have to keep pumping accelerator to keep it running. It will idle once i drive several miles I found holes in rubbr tube from air filter box to fuel injection. repaired this and it helped tremendously!! It has just started this again but will idle about 500 rpms with less effort than previous problem. It has new cap, rotor and wires and fuel filter. Checked fuel pressure also 34 psi. range is 30-45 psi.Running down the road it runs great.

Answer
check the inlet hose for more cracks-check for vacuum leaks by spraying water around intake
pull inlet hose and clean throttle bore with carb spray and pull idle air control motor and clean it-pull maf sensor off and clean it with brake cleaner (the wires inside) be careful not to break them because the sensor is expensive.pull both battery cables off and touch them together after cleaning maf sensor. good luck.
