Ford Repair: Cam shaft bearing discrepancy, shaft bearings, shaft bearing

Question
I work in Tanzania, East Africa, and managed to get my hands on what is I believe the only mustang in the country - a 1965 Fastback with 6cylinder 200cid engine and 3sp manual transmission.

I have been working on rebuilding the engine - I bought an engine kit with all the bearings and gaskets etc and when I came to fit the cam shaft bearings I found that bearings 1 and 4 fit tight in their hole as they are supposed to, but bearings 2 and 3 fit loosely. I thought that perhaps the aftermarket bearings I bought (King bearings) were wrong, so I bought some Federal Mogul ones instead, but they had the identical problem.

I need to know if this is normal or if you've ever heard of it happening before? Do you have any advice on how I can fix this problem or what I should do?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Peter

I would have to do some checking on this. Some cams have different size journals but i have found this to be each one slightly different but haven't seen it much. You can email federal mogul help and they should be able to help you. It should not be normal because bearings could possibly spin block oil feed and lock down. I haven't done much engine work on this model vehicle as i was starting out in late 70's. I will see if i can find something out and email you back.
