Ford Repair: Ford Escape will not start, 2006 ford escape, srat

Hi Tony, I have a 2006 Ford Escape, 4 cylinder, 2w drive with 75000 miles, that won't start. I am having trouble with the gear selector, not being able to get it out of park, so I was leaving it in neutral and starting the car, now the car won't start, battery has been checked and is good, no corrosion on cables, when I turn the key to start I hear a slight click from behind the dash and thats it, any help you could offer will be greatly appreciated.  Thanking you in advance John

Hello John, It is possible the no srat and the gear selector may be related to one another. If the computer is getting a signal that it may be in gear then it won't let it start. That is where I would start performing diagnostics 1st and gofrom there. Thanks Tony
