Ford Repair: Problem starting truck, best guess, ford f150

Question
I recently purchased a 1975 Ford F150 Ranger XLT pickup with a 460 in it and a Motorcraft 2 bbl.

Originally the truck was running really rough. I changed the spark plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor, and set the timing. This has resolved the running issues, but now it won't start.

I checked the carb to see if it was getting fuel since I knew it wasn't a spark issue.

No fuel was going in. This truck has a mechanical fuel pump on the blocks lower right side with a canister style fuel filter attached. I replaced the fuel filter then I primed the engine by pumping some fuel directly into the carb and the engine started. It ran fine and I drove it for about 15 minutes. I could turn the engine off and restart it no problem.

I then let the truck sit overnight and the next afternoon attempted to start it to no avail.

The carb wasn't seeming to get any fuel. I was wondering if this was a fuel pressure issue or a carb issue.

My personal best guess is that there might be a crack in the fuel line causing it to lose pressure and therefore by the truck sitting overnight the fuel lines lost the pressure and fuel isn't getting to the carb. My other idea was that it might be the float stuck closed.

I was thinking I should replace the fuel lines and overhaul the carb to fix this issue, but is their an easier way to decipher the cause of this issue?

Thanks,
Chris

Answer
Well, the lines that are not stainless, are very inexpensive price wise to replace. You may have an issue with the fuel tank itself, like a blockage, so removal, inspecting, and cleaning. Also, it won't hurt to inspect the recently purchased fuel pump. New parts do go bad, just not often.
