Auto body repair & detailing: repainting from scratch, nissan pulsar nx, grit sandpaper

Question
I have an 86 nissan pulsar nx that has some rust, flaking paint, and oxidizing paint. I plan to change the color at my school's shop. What is the best way to do this? WIre brush down to metal, primer, paint,  clearcoat? any wetsanding involved?

Answer
Take a DA sander with 80 grit sandpaper and sand vehicle down to bare metal.  Fix any rusty spots or dents with bondo.  Then etch prime entire vehicle to prohibit rust.  Then after 2 hours epoxy or urethane prime entire vehicle.  No sanding is necessary between etch primer and epoxy or urethane primer.  Water sand entire vehicle with 400 grit wet sandpaper and a 3M flat sanding block.  If vehicle looks ready for paint, then you are ready to refinish.  If not, reprime and reblock.  Thank You for the question, Ken.
