Answer
Whenever you have either the battery, or in your case, the alternator go bad two things happen. These two things are very common, and almost a certainty. The bad part takes the other one out with it. Whenever installing a new alternator, you need to be sure that you have a full charge on your battery, and that is in good health. What I mean is that there is not a bad cell in the battery. If you installed the alternator with a battery that wasn't fully charged, you may have hurt the new alternator. In layman's terms, your new alternator is possibly shot. I was not able to comprehend the part about the black wire at the distribution box. What I would do if I were in your shoes is drive the vehicle where you bought the alternator. Before you go, be sure and charge the battery on the lowest trickle charge setting overnight if possible. Drive the car during the day. You will want to do this so that you won't be using the headlights. Keep any power such as the radio turned off until you reach your destination, and take a set of jumper cable just in case. Wherever you bought the alternator should have a machine that will be able to test every aspect of the charging system to indicate exactly where the problem is.
