Nissan Repair: Electrical, krissie, battery cable

Question
I Accidently touched the negative and the positive parts of the battery together, and shorted basically everything electrical in the entire car. What would I need to do to fix this?  Could I do it myself, or would I need a professional?

Answer
Krissie,

If the car starts you are ahead of the game.  If not replace the battery and the fuses on the positive side of the battery cable.  After that it is a matter of checking and replacing fuses and components that do not power back up.  Now, I have seen one where the radio was blown and another where the ECM was gone.  You should not have that problem.
