Ford Repair: Broken Ford f 350, ford f 350, ford f350

Question
Hi, I have a 2001 ford f350 7.3 diesel.  When I went to start my truck I waited for the glow plugs to turn off and when I went to start it all the power completely died.  The day before the same thing happened and eventually the power came back on and ran like nothing happened.  I replaced the clyanoid to the starter and charged the batteries and started last night but this morning the same thing happened.  Thanks, Aren

A water leak intrusion into a electrical component can cause a short. It never hurts to check under the front rugs just to make sure you do not have a body water leak condition. I work on and repair auto body water leak intrusions.

Check under your front rugs after a good rain to see if the carpet matting is damp or water is seen. A water leak intrusion can cause a condition such as this.
When you do an inspection for a water leak intrusion, you should have the interior scuff plate and "A" pillar trim removed so you can see the sheet metal body.
With the interior trim removed, soak the top, front of the windshield with a garden hose for about 1/2 to 1 hour. Look inside the truck with a flashlight at the floor and at the bottom, front inside of the door area. Look to see if your  side dash mount bolts and brackets show signs of rust as this would be a good indication that a water leak intrusion is going on.

Things that can be leaking :

(1)Bottom of the "A" pillar seam, high cowl seam to "A" pillar seam(all under your cowl screen). Also, check to make sure the cowl drain is clear of debris. This could get a wiring junction wet.

(2)Front wheel well seam to bulk head seam or plug,(all of which would leak onto the floor and be seen tight to the corner of the bulkhead to cowl section) this could get a wiring harness wet.

(3)The windshield set could be loose or leaking.

(4)Top of the "A" pillar seam,(water can be seen this on the inside of the truck, looking along the sheet metal by the windshield set and at the sheet metal by your parking brake area). This could get a fuse box or Gem unit wet.
