Ford Repair: vacum hoses, ford repair, message board thanks

what is the proper way to hook up vacum hoses on a  1987 ford ranger pk.  we need it done right so it will pass smog.  thank you for your help    shirley   yes post question on ford repair message board/  thanks.

the first thing to do is make sure all the emission components work.check your pcv is good.then check the egr to make sure its operating.check the catalytic converter and the o2 sensor.the converter is usally the part that fails the test.even if all of the vaccum hoses are good it wont pass emissions if the components are bad.i would check the hoses for cracks.also check the carbon canister for problems.hope this helps.
