Ford Repair: air conditioner compressor will not shut off, ford escort wagon, air conditioner compressor

Question
QUESTION: My '99 Ford Escort SE Wagon was taken to the shop due to blowing hot air.  A part was replaced, which I don't know the name of, but I was told it gives power to the compressor.
Anyway, the part was replaced, and the air blew cold air again, but while in the shop, it was noticed that the air compressor will not shut off even after the button to run the air is shut off.
My car has been in the shop for over 2 weeks now, and it has been taken to another shop that deals with electrical problems.  The dash has been taken apart, wires has been traced and checked, but everyone seems to be stumped by this, not being able to find the problem.
Can you shed any light onto this, specific to my 1999 Ford Escort Wagon,  so I can offer some suggestions to the mechanics?   Any information you can pass along about this issue, would be appreciated.  Thank you.

ANSWER: if the part was an irc (intergrated relay controller)then it very well can be the wrong one-there are two for that car and even from dealer i have received the wrong one and compressor will run all the time and sometimes fans will to. i won't use an aftermarket one only ford but have to be careful and get right number.

QUESTION: I tried to find out the name of the part, but I was told something different than a couple of weeks ago.
Don't know what to do at this point. Is there a place online which lists the parts of my air conditioning system?  If I could see a list, I would remember the name of the part I was told gave power to the compressor.
Thanks.

ANSWER: go to a shop and ask them to print you a list of a/c parts if they have alldata or mitchell on demand offer them something although not much those programs cost shops over 200.00 per month also ink/paper and time is an expense to them also. good luck.

QUESTION: I was told today that my car might be done and working properly. It is currently at the shop which specilizes in electrical problems.  If my car is indeed fixed, I will follow up with what parts were replaced since it might help someone else looking for answers.
So I hope my car is really fixed, and I can pass on the info soon. For the life of me , I cannot understand why it would take 3 weeks....and that's assuming that it IS done and working well.
So this isn't a question per se, but a note that I will follow up with what was done etc. Thank you.

Answer
thanks and good luck-as far as three weeks-several things can come into play depending on size of shop/how busy/understanding of electrical systems/ plus abnormal things are not always easy to figure out and a shop can't come to a stand still because of a problem car they still have bills so they would have to keep a certain amount of cars flowing thru shop or they would go bankrupt because at any given time we will have two or three problem cars at once and their is only three of us so we have to work on them and sometimes stop to get a couple of vehicles out so we will be here next week. hope everthing works out for you i am interested to know what it was.
