Ford Repair: air vents/heating, 1997 ford taurus, taurus 3

1997 Ford Taurus 3.0 v6 12 valve. When driving and have heating controls set to cool and vent,feels like hot air coming out of vents? Want to know how to correct this problem because air conditioning no longer working and too expensive to repair for year of car

turn vent off because heat goes through heater core all the time an if air isn't working then you will get warm air out-switch to max a/c and that should turn outside airflow off. if compressor not working that won't matter but if compressor is coming on unplug low pressure switch.
